Yes, I have seen this before I see it when migrating VB3/4 app's to VB6. Has anyone out there had or heard of problems like this? I'd appreciate any input. The project builds and runs just fine on other Win98 machines.

: I'm running VB6 on a brand-new Win98 machine with very little software installed on it, so I don't think it's a conflict. : I've tried reinstalling VB6 several times, but this didn't fix the problem-in fact, after one reinstall a project somehow lost a reference to the common dialog control. Sometimes I can place the common controls on the form but can't declare variables of types contained in mscomctlLib (such as MscomctlLib.Button). The errors occur again after a few builds. : I've tried rebuilding the affected projects and copying them over the old ones. : Class MSComctlLib.ListView of control lvwCommon was not a loaded control class. : The log files contain messages similar to the following: : When I open the Components menu and try to select Common Controls, I get an error saying that the name is in conflict with another project, file, etc. When I open the forms that threw the errors, every ImageList, ListView, TreeView, Toolbar, and every other control that uses mscomctl.ocx are PictureBoxes!

When I open the Components menu and try to select Common Controls, I get an error saying that the name is in conflict with another project, file, etc. Please provide us with a better solution.I'm having a problem with a VB6(SP5) project group. Likely have a good week or more of testing that will be required before we can go live with our VB6 app and this critical windows update. We are still in the process of testing the application and we keep finding things that break due to compiling on Windows 7.

Plus several cosmetic changes occurred that should not have happened. Removing office 2016 just to compile the code.

We needed to install an MSDN office 2003 after We were using Office 2003 common controls and those broke (as our windows 7 machines have office 2016 or 2010 so the Office 2003 OWC is no good). We also found that recompiling caused some unexpected problems.

And others have pointed out that they have old, expensive software that they do not have access to the source code that this Since VB6 IDE is at best a valid installation method for windows XP but this KB isn't available for XP, we need a better solution. VB6 IDE in Windows 7 圆4 is not a supported setup and you do not offer any support through that setup. I agree with the comments people are posting below: recompiling on windows 7 圆4 is not a "solution". I tried removing that key completely (2.0, 2.1 and 2.2) and then re-registering the OCX file and same problem.Īlso, sorry if I posted this in the wrong location, I thought it fell under windows update. I have looked online and found instructions about unregistering it before copying it over and about removing a registry entry ()Īnd neither seemed to have any positive effect.

Removing this update allows the program to work again. I have compared the file version from a known good system and the version matches () so I don't think it is a problem with the OCX file. Make sure yo uare using the version of the control that was provided with your application. your version of MSCOMCTL.OCX may be outdated. One of our VB6 application suddenly stopped working with the following error:įailed to load control 'ImageList' from MSCOMCTL.OCX. We recently installed KB3139940 on some of our Windows 7 圆4 systems and ran into a strange issue.
